Frequently asked questions about Managed Hosting

Do I need server skills?

No. You work in Plesk as with a normal hosting package: create websites, set up mailboxes, manage databases. Everything underneath, the operating system, updates and security, we take care of.

What exactly does “your own hosting environment” mean?

Your plan runs in its own hosting environment that works only for your contract. You share computing power, memory and storage with no other customer, unlike classic web hosting on a shared platform.

How many domains can I use?

Depending on the plan, you use up to 10, 20 or 30 domains, with and without www as well as subdomains. The domains themselves are not included in the package price: you register them at the price in the domain price list at any time in the Customer Menu.

What does Redis do for me?

Redis keeps frequently requested data ready in memory instead of reading it from the database on every page view. Shops and CMS with many database queries benefit most. We set up Redis as an object cache on request, a request to support is enough.

Are backups created?

Yes, daily and encrypted. We keep the backups of the last seven days, restoring through our support is free of charge.

What is the difference to WebHosting?

With WebHosting, several customers share one platform: the affordable entry point for smaller projects. With Managed Hosting, your plan runs in its own hosting environment with its own computing power and memory. We set up Redis as an object cache on request.

What is the difference to a Managed Server?

The scope of support is the same: we take care of administration, updates and security. Managed Hosting comes in three fixed sizes, a Managed Server is sized individually for your needs.

Can I choose the operating system or adjust resources?

No, the plans are configured in a fixed way, so we can operate them reliably for you. You get more performance by moving to the next larger plan. For an individual configuration, there is our Managed Server.

Can I set up email mailboxes?

Yes. You set up mailboxes for your domains directly in Plesk, unlimited within the resources of your server. Attachments up to 50 MB are possible.

Do I have SSH access?

Yes, every plan includes SSH access, e.g. for your own scripts or command-line tools.

Will you migrate my existing website?

Yes, we handle the move, free of charge for private customers. You find all the details on the Migration Service page.
