How it works

    Order a plan, we set up the web space for you

    Choose the right hosting plan. As soon as the order is active, we create the basis for your later migration.

    Hand over the data to us: credentials for the old host or a backup file

    You send us the credentials for the old host (FTP, database, mail) or a complete backup. Alternatively, we connect to the old system together with you.

    We migrate: web space, databases, mail accounts, DNS

    Our team copies files, exports and imports databases, synchronizes mailboxes via IMAP and takes over the DNS records.

    Switch DNS: we coordinate the changeover with you

    We switch your domain once the migration is complete and check that it was successful.

Frequently asked questions about the migration service

What does the migration cost?
Website migration is included free of charge for private customers in every one of our hosting plans. You give us the credentials for your current host, and we take care of databases, files and email mailboxes.
How long does the switch take?
The migration itself usually takes a few hours once the date is set and we have the credentials. Before that, we need a free migration slot: depending on workload, that is one to five business days. We agree the date for the switch with you in advance.
Will I have downtime?
We keep it as short as possible: we migrate in parallel to the running system and only switch the domain once the new environment has been tested. A brief interruption during the switch cannot always be ruled out. We set the time together with you.
What about my emails?
Existing mailboxes are taken over completely via IMAP sync: folder structure, flags, attachments.
What happens to the old contract?
You cancel it yourself with the old host after the successful switch, typically at the next contract end. We recommend keeping the old hosting environment running in parallel for another 2 to 4 weeks in case anything needs to be retrieved.
