What to keep in mind with .de domains
The DENIC eG is the registry responsible for all .de domains. It does not require the holder to have an address in Germany. Anyone based abroad names, on request, an authorized recipient in Germany. The availability check happens in real time, and a successful order is active within a few minutes. Whois privacy is not possible for .de due to registry rules, but the holder data appears only to a limited extent in the public Whois lookup.

Frequently asked questions about the .de domain
How long does .de registration take?
Usually a few minutes. DENIC works in real time. Once the order is completed with us, the domain usually goes live within 10 minutes.
Do I need a German address for a .de domain?
No. DENIC does not require the domain holder to have an address in Germany. Anyone based abroad must, on request, name an authorized recipient based in Germany within two weeks, with a street address, a P.O. box is not enough.
What happens if I no longer need the .de domain?
In the Customer Menu, you cancel at the end of the term. The domain stays active until then. On request, we release the domain or transfer it to another registrar.
